Indian actress Priyanka Chopra is known for her outstanding acting in several Bollywood movies and American drama Quantico. As the winner of the Miss India and Miss World pageant, she gained international popularity which led her into entertainment industry. Chopra is married to singer-actor Nick Jonas in 2018.
Born in Jamshedpur, India on July 18, 1982 the actress grew up in a family of physicians. Her father worked in the army, so the family moved from time to time. She stayed in United States for three years. When she returned to India to attend the Army Public School in Bareilly, her father suggested her to participate the prestigious Miss India. Unexpectedly, the-18-year-old Chopra won the contest and decided to drop out of college to focus on the pageant activity. As the India representative, she then competed in the 2000 Miss World and successfully took the crown. Soon, her name came to fame and entered the movie industry. She made her movie debut with Thamizhan (2002) as the lead and appeared in Jeet: Born to Win in the same year. The following year, Chopra played a role in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy as her first appearance in Bollywood movie. She was busy with several movies in 2004 and made a breakthrough with a comedy Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.
She also took some roles in 2005 and 2006, but only one of those movies gained success. She rose to fame with the successful Mary Kom, a based-on-true-story movie about boxing in which she starred as the lead. The movie was premiered in Toronto International Film Festival, became the first Hindi-made movie that was accepted in the event. By 2014, Priyanka Chopra had featured in 50 movies, including Barfi!, Gunday, and Agneepath.
Her hard work led her to an American television show Quantico in which she played as the lead. It was also remarked as the start of her Hollywood career. Her outstanding acting in the show was praised by critics, made her received the People’s Choice Awards for the series. She then took a role in some Indian movies, including Bajirao Mastani, a box-office movie in 2015. It followed with the successful comedy, Ventilator (2016) which she produced and played as the supporting role. In 2019, she took a supporting role in Isn’t It Romantic and followed with a Bollywood movie, The Sky Is Pink.
In 2018, Priyanka Chopra and actor-singer Nick Jonas opened up about their relationship. After engaged in July, the couple announced the marriage on December 1, 2018.
